We enjoyed a really great days at the recent paint workshop held in Lania. After a cup of coffee and some cake we worked our way through the main chalk paint techniques, enjoyed a light lunch, and then our guest tried out what they had learned on a lovely wooden tray. The results were terrific!! Thanks to everyone who attended.
All our guests enjoyed the day and Liz W was kind enough to give us the below review on Facebook... Thanks Liz!! :)

Fabulous little shop. Lots of quirky items. I’ve just done a Chalk Painting course course with Nicola, the owner. I had a fabulous day. Loved every minute of it. I’ve come home with paints and bucketloads of enthusiasm. Anyone with an interest in learning Chalk Painting, do the day with Nicola" - Liz W who attended a course on 6 June 2019
We enjoyed a great Lania Lanes event this month! On the evening of the eve of the event we took the decision to expand the shop and we are glad we did because the shop was packed out on both days - the original little shop would not have coped with the numbers of customers and visitors. The new expanded shop has been such a success that we are keeping it that way. Who knows... perhaps we will have to expand again in the future. :)
One of the highlights of the Lania calendar is the "Open Lanes and Courtyards" event which is taking place this coming weekend, the 11th and 12th of May. Held since 2006 it is a once a year opportunity to peek behind the courtyard gates, stroll around the village lanes, and meet some of the residents of the village in extremely convivial surroundings.
Lania is one of the 14 Commandaria villages. and this year, the organisers of the Lania Lanes event have produced a small book of local recipes - ‘Cooking with Commandaria’. Commandaria, made from sundried grapes, is a dessert wine with a rich flavour, aroma and history. It is believed to be the oldest wine in the world, probably made as early as 3,500 B.C.. In Lusignan times, it was produced for the Knights of Richard the Lionheart – La Grande Commandarie, from which it takes its name. Production is controlled, with no chemicals or irrigation permitted. It tastes delicious and we are sure the food in these recipes will too! The booklet will be on sale at The Boutique and other venues during ‘Lanes & Courtyard' event.
The event kicks off at 11am on Saturday and Sunday and runs through until the early evening on both days. Come and pop in to The Boutique and say hello - our courtyard will be open and all are welcome!
In the meantime enjoy some photos from previous years...
A pyramid of Vintage Paint heading off for delivery today!
Having just opened up the shop it's so nice to see our customers who have tried Vintage Paint come back for more because of the easy, smooth application & finish of the paint. We sell Vintage Paint because we love using it ourselves & we are very happy others agree!
In terms of value for money we try and keep the price as close to the UK RRP as possible taking into account delivery to this lovely island (as well as exchange rates and other nasties!). We think thats the fair approach. 1 Litre pots are currently €22.50.
You can view and buy our stock and range of colours online or in the shop. We frequently top-up our stock so if you have any LARGE projects coming up (anyone painting a kitchen? :) ) let us know and we will make sure and have plenty of the colour you need.
Finally... a BIG thank you to all our customers for the support & kind words of encouragement while we start up.
Nicola & team!
Some customers have asked on Facebook if we will be open on the 15th and 16th and the answer is a big... YES!
We will be open all week 1100 to 1800 (M to F) and 1100 to 1500 (Saturday). So...If you are planning a trip into the mountains this week for some cooler air then please do stop by and spend some time in Lania Village and pay us a visit in the Boutique. We are located just around from the Kafeneon.
Lania is a beautiful village at day or night and has some terrific places to eat & drink as a destination itself, or as a stop as you head further up into the mountains.
